December 2020 Child rapist jailed A grandfather has been jailed for seven years for raping one young girl and sexually abusing another four decades ago. Daniel Kerr, 58, raped the youngster, who has since passed away, when she was aged between ten and 12 in Glasgow in the 1980s. The sick pervert targeted a second girl in the city, launching sexual attacks on her when she was aged between ten and 14. Kerr, a joiner, appeared for sentencing via prison video link at the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday after an earlier trial saw a jury return a guilty verdict. Kerr was sentenced at the High Court Edinburgh where he appeared via prison video link Kerr was found guilty of using lewd and libidinous practices towards a girl between 1976 and 1983. He was convicted of raping another girl between 1983 and 1985, and an earlier instance of lewd and libidinous behaviour against her some time between 1979 and 1981. Judge Lord Braid told Kerr he was a “child when the offending began” but was an “adult, albeit a young adult” while it continued. He said Kerr, of Glasgow’s Priesthill area, continued to deny or minimise his offending. Along with seven years imprisonment, Kerr was put on the sex offenders’ register for an “indefinite” period
