WIGAN SEX OFFENDER DANIEL JAMES SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS FOR CHILD ABUSE

In a case that has shocked the community of Wigan, Daniel James, a 30-year-old man from Old Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges of sexual misconduct involving a minor.

James was convicted in Liverpool Crown Court on April 17 after admitting to three counts of indecent assault against a girl under the age of 16, engaging in sexual activity with a child, and a section 47 assault. The offences spanned over a four-year period, beginning when the victim was just 13 years old.

The disturbing details of the case reveal that James's abuse started when the girl was only 13 and continued until last year. The victim, overwhelmed by the trauma, eventually found the courage to confide in her mother by writing a note detailing the abuse. This act of bravery led to James’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.

According to reports, upon discovering the note, James reacted violently. He reportedly slapped the girl across the face with a training shoe and became verbally abusive. The situation escalated when he pushed her to the ground, knelt on her chest, and began grabbing at her face in a threatening manner. The girl then contacted the police, which ultimately led to James’s arrest.

Detective Constable Sue Molyneux from the Child Protection Unit commented on the case, emphasizing the difficulties victims face in coming forward. She stated, “Victims of sexual abuse often take time to break their silence, either because they are ashamed about what has happened to them or because they are worried about the consequences of coming forward. Thankfully, this girl worked up the courage to tell her mother and this has resulted in James’s arrest and conviction.”

Molyneux further expressed her concern over the lasting impact of such abuse, saying, “This man’s actions have taken away the trust and innocence of a child, which is something she can never get back. I am pleased that he has today been brought to justice for what he has done.”
