DANIEL ARTHINGTON FROM ANGLESEY CAUGHT IN SHOCKING PAEDOPHILE SCANDAL NEAR RUGBY CLUB

In December 2016, a disturbing case emerged involving Daniel Arthington, a respected elder and preacher within the Jehovah’s Witness community based in Anglesey. Arthington was exposed as a manipulative and deceitful individual who engaged in the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl, an incident that took place in the back of a van parked near a rugby club on a remote lane.

According to court proceedings, the incident came to light after a vigilant local builder noticed a van frequently parked in the secluded area. His suspicions grew when he observed the vehicle on multiple occasions, prompting him to inform a friend who was a police officer. The officer responded swiftly and approached the van, where he could hear sounds emanating from the back that were consistent with sexual activity.

Prosecutor Anna Pope detailed the events to Caernarfon Crown Court, explaining that the police officer waited approximately 20 minutes, during which he observed the van rocking from side to side. The court was told that this movement was indicative of sexual activity involving the occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Arthington.

When the police finally approached the van, Arthington emerged from the front, appearing breathless. The officer then asked the passenger to exit the vehicle, revealing a young girl inside. In an attempt to deceive the authorities, Arthington told the girl to claim she was 19 years old, saying, “Tell him you’re 19, I’ve already told him.”

However, when questioned about her date of birth, the girl admitted she was only 14. As the police prepared to take her to the station, Arthington shockingly declared, “I’m dead,” indicating his awareness of the gravity of his actions.

Further investigation revealed that the back of the van contained a mattress and sheet, suggesting it was used for sexual activity. The girl later provided an impact statement, revealing her feelings of sadness and depression following the incident. She disclosed that she had lost weight and was unable to sleep, and her family was now contemplating relocating to escape the trauma.

Daniel Arthington, who resides in Llanddaniel, Anglesey, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 14. His sentencing at Caernarfon Crown Court resulted in a prison term of two years and eight months. Judge Rees condemned his actions, describing him as greedy and lustful, and criticized his attempt to conceal the girl’s true age from the police. The judge emphasized that there was a clear element of grooming involved in the case and stated that Arthington’s fall from grace was significant but entirely self-inflicted.

As part of his sentence, Arthington was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which prohibits any contact with the victim. Additionally, he is required to register as a sexual offender indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from further harm.
