October 2009 Pensioner jailed for 13 years for sexual abuse charges A PENSIONER who sexually abused a child for nearly a decade is beginning a 13 year jail sentence. Terence Michael Wheeler, of Egremont Court, Stockton Heath, was jailed at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday after a jury found him guilty of nine counts of rape and sexual abuse. The court heard the 65-year-old sexual abused the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, from the age of six and raped him in his early teens. The offences came to light after the victim, now married and in his 20s, told his wife, parents and police in March 2008 about former Wylfa power station engineer in Wales Wheeler. Judeg Phillip Hughes said the abuse on the boy was “regular and very frequent”. “It started when he was six or seven and happened three, four or five times a week with hardly a break during that time.” Judge Hughes said: “The fact is that to ordinary, decent people of whatever sexual orientation – and whatever their sexual appetite – hearing what you did to that small boy over a period of many years would be sickening.” He told Wheeler: “You abused your position of trust”. Wheeler had only had three relationships with women – with his first wife Dilys before they divorced 35 years ago and they had a boy and a girl. He then married Sylvia who had two children from a previous marriage and they had one son together before they became estranged. He’d then entered into a relationship with a widow and they moved to Warrington. He previously lived in Benllech, Anglesey.
