DAMIAN GREEN/STOTT'S REPEATED ORDER BREACHES IN ABERDEEN LAND HIM BEHIND BARS
In a serious development in Aberdeen's ongoing efforts to monitor convicted sex offenders, Damien Green, also known as Stott, has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for violating a court-mandated sexual offences prevention order. This marks the sixth time since 2012 that Green has defied the restrictions placed upon him, raising concerns about compliance and public safety.
According to court proceedings held at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Green was found to have attended a social gathering on January 13 of this year, where a young child was present.
The presence of a minor at the event directly contravened the strict conditions of his existing order, which was designed to prevent him from being near children.
The court was informed that Green’s disregard for the order was not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of repeated breaches.
During the hearing, Green’s defense attorney, Keidra Morrison, attempted to justify his actions by stating, “He was so caught up and excited that he had been invited to the party that he just did not think.” However, Sheriff William Summers was unequivocal in his assessment, remarking, “It appears you have largely ignored the order since it was imposed in 2012.” Green, who is currently detained at HMP Grampian, was given the 16-month sentence for his latest breach, emphasizing the court’s stance on the importance of strict adherence to such orders to protect vulnerable members of the community.
Earlier incidents involving Green highlight a troubling pattern.
In November 2016, the same individual, then aged 28, was jailed for a year after breaching his sexual offences prevention order by spending a day at Codona’s amusement park.
This was the fourth breach since the order’s inception in 2012.
On that occasion, Green was observed enjoying rides such as the dodgems and rollercoaster during the school holiday period, just five days after being released from custody.
It was reported that Green, described as a prisoner of HMP Grampian, had been drinking with friends prior to visiting the busy amusement park, which was filled with children.
He remained at the park until approximately 5 pm, further violating the restrictions set to prevent him from being in proximity to minors.
Green subsequently appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted to breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order, underscoring ongoing concerns about his compliance and the potential risk posed to the community.
