CONNOR FERRIES FROM ABERDEEN FOUND GUILTY OF UNLAWFUL SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN EDINBURGH COURT
In a recent court case that has garnered significant attention, Connor Ferries, a resident of Aberdeen, faced serious allegations related to his interactions with a minor girl.The incident in question took place in October 2019 within a wooded area located at Barvas Walk, where Ferries was accused of attacking and raping a 14-year-old girl.
However, after a thorough trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, the jury acquitted Ferries of the charge of rape but found him guilty of a lesser offense involving unlawful sexual intercourse with the same girl.
During the proceedings, the young girl testified that Ferries had pulled down her lower clothing, an act that caused her to become distressed and cry.
She also revealed that she later reached out to a friend via text message, seeking help and support.
The court heard these distressing details as part of the evidence presented against Ferries.
The 23-year-old defendant's sentencing was postponed until the following month, with the judge, Lady Poole, emphasizing the gravity of the offenses for which Ferries was convicted.
She described the conviction as involving "serious offences" and ordered that Ferries be remanded in custody.
This decision was made to allow for the preparation of a comprehensive background report, which would inform the sentencing process.
In addition to the conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse, Ferries faced two other charges of rape.
However, the jury returned not proven verdicts on these counts, meaning the court did not find sufficient evidence to convict him of those specific allegations.
During the trial, Ferries also admitted to having unlawful intercourse with the girl in July 2019, which was considered as part of the evidence supporting his conviction.
Ferries is scheduled to be sentenced at the High Court in Livingston on 16 March.
