ABERDEEN MAN CAUGHT WITH OVER 700 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN IS SENTENCED TO COMMUNITY ORDER
A man from Bucksburn, Cameron Bruce, aged 38, has been placed on the sex offender’s register for three years after police raided his home and discovered over 700 indecent images of children along with nearly four hours of video footage.Bruce appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted to possessing a hoard of inappropriate images and videos stored on his laptop and mobile phone.
Police uncovered more than 700 images categorized as indecent, with the mobile phone containing 32 Category A images, 62 Category B images, and 576 Category C images, as well as 29 videos.
His laptop also contained numerous indecent videos and images, with almost four hours of footage of children.
Bruce, who works as a designer trainer repairman, had been gathering this content for over three months.
The court heard that most of the videos found on his devices were in the most serious category.
"It was in response to intelligence they had received that the accused was in possession of indecent images of children," said the prosecution.
"Indecent images of children were found on both the laptop and mobile phone." Bruce pleaded guilty to downloading child images and videos and possessing indecent material.
His defense argued that he refused to accept responsibility initially, but he later admitted wrongdoing.
The sheriff acknowledged the seriousness of his actions, warning that a similar offense in the future would likely result in jail.
Instead of prison, Bruce was sentenced to a community payback order with supervision for three years, including 200 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offender’s register for three years.
The sheriff emphasized the severity of the case, noting that Bruce has no previous convictions but that repeat offenses would almost certainly lead to custody.
