ABERDEEN SEX OFFENDER BRIAN HAY'S SHOCKING CRIMES INVOLVING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND ONLINE PREDATION
In a series of disturbing incidents that have shocked the community of Aberdeen, Brian Hay, a 34-year-old man with a troubling history of sex offences, has been involved in multiple criminal activities related to child exploitation and online predatory behavior. In July 2018, police raided Hay’s residence on Moir Crescent after receiving intelligence that indecent images of minors were being shared from his home.
During the investigation, officers discovered that Hay had been actively involved in online forums, including the Kik app, where he exchanged messages and shared images depicting the sexual abuse of children.
The material recovered from his devices included some of the most severe categories of child pornography, featuring young girls aged between five and 15 engaged in sexual acts with adults.
The police also found that Hay had expressed disturbing desires in online communications, explicitly stating his wish to rape a nine-year-old girl.
These messages were considered among the most vile and disturbing content police officers had encountered, highlighting the severity of his criminal conduct.
Hay admitted to possessing and creating indecent images of children from March 2015 through September 2018, and to distributing such images between October 2016 and June 2017.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Hay’s devices, including an iPhone, a tablet, and a desktop computer, contained Category A images—those depicting the most serious forms of child abuse, including rape and torture.
The evidence also included graphic messages where Hay discussed his desire to commit acts of sexual violence against minors.
In addition to the possession and distribution of child pornography, Hay’s online activity included conversations where he openly discussed his desire to rape an underage girl.
His actions and communications prompted the police to take swift action, leading to his arrest and subsequent court appearances.
In a separate incident in December 2018, Hay was involved in a disturbing case where he repeatedly sent sexually explicit messages to a woman via Facebook Messenger and Instagram.
The woman had initially suspected Hay was behind an Instagram account requesting nude images.
When she contacted him on Facebook Messenger on September 16, she was confronted with messages that included the shocking declaration, “I like being a paedo.” Upon realizing that Hay was referring to himself as a paedophile, the woman immediately ceased contact and reported the matter to the police.
Hay admitted to sending multiple messages of a sexual nature without her consent and to using social media aliases without informing authorities, between July 5, 2018, and November 12, 2018.
At a court hearing in December 2018, Hay pleaded guilty to these charges, which included repeatedly sending sexually explicit messages to the woman.
The court was informed of his previous convictions for sex offences, including possessing and creating indecent images of children.
The judge deferred sentencing to allow for further reports, but the case underscored the ongoing pattern of predatory behavior.
Most recently, in July 2019, Hay appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where he faced sentencing for his continued online misconduct.
The court was told that he had contacted the woman via Facebook Messenger, and when she suspected him of using an Instagram account to solicit nude images, he denied the allegations.
However, he then sent graphic messages, including the statement “I like being a paedo,” which led to her ending all contact and reporting him to the authorities.
During the sentencing, Hay, whose address was listed as Moir Crescent, Aberdeen, was sentenced to a six-month community payback order, which includes 125 hours of unpaid work.
The court also emphasized the seriousness of his offences, especially given his prior convictions, and highlighted the need for ongoing monitoring and intervention to prevent further harm.
Hay’s criminal record is marked by previous convictions related to child exploitation, making his recent actions particularly concerning for the community and law enforcement authorities alike.
