ABERDEEN PAEDOPHILE BLAINE TOWLER CAUGHT WITH HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE MATERIAL
A 19-year-old man from Aberdeen, Blaine Towler, has been found in possession of a disturbing collection of indecent images and videos involving young children, including toddlers. The case came to light after police investigations revealed that Towler was sharing illicit videos of minors with another individual involved in similar criminal activity through the social media platform Kik.Authorities, upon examining Towler’s electronic devices, uncovered a cache of highly disturbing content. Among the material found was a folder labeled ‘hot stuff,’ which contained approximately 50 videos across various categories, depicting children aged between one and 14 years old. Some of these videos were classified in the most severe categories, including a particularly distressing five-minute video of a 13-year-old Korean girl. The images and videos included children as young as one year old, with some videos showing girls as young as two years old. The nature of some of these videos was described during the proceedings at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, but the details were deemed too upsetting to be publicly reported.
Further investigation revealed that Towler had been involved in the distribution of child abuse material via multiple platforms. Police found that he used Telegram to send and receive such content, including a group chat that contained up to 80 images and videos involving children as young as one year old. The devices also contained indecent videos of young girls aged five and under, all categorized as the most serious level of abuse material. Additionally, police discovered that Towler had sent two videos of the most severe category to another user through Kik, involving girls aged between 10 and 14.
These findings were prompted by a warning from the National Child Abuse Investigating Unit, which alerted police that a Snapchat account linked to Towler had uploaded a Category A image online in January of the previous year. Following this, police executed a search warrant at Towler’s residence in the Torry area of Aberdeen. During the search, two mobile phones were seized. One of these devices was used to send the aforementioned severe videos via Kik, while the other contained the extensive collection of indecent images and videos.
In court, Towler admitted to downloading and possessing child abuse images, as well as extreme pornography involving children and animals. He also confessed to distributing indecent images. The prosecution, led by fiscal depute David Ballock, described the material as “serious and concerning,” emphasizing the gravity of the offenses.
Defense solicitor Mike Monro requested that Towler be given social work intervention, highlighting the need for support to address his issues. The court, however, recognized the seriousness of the crimes committed. Sheriff Christine McCrossan described the offenses as “serious and concerning,” but also acknowledged the importance of providing Towler with appropriate help.
As a result, Towler, who resides on Kirkhill Road in Aberdeen, was sentenced to a community payback order with three years of supervision. He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, participate in a sex offenders program, and register as a sex offender for three years. The court’s ruling aimed to balance the need for accountability with the potential for rehabilitation in this disturbing case.
