BRISTOL MAN BENJAMIN NASH CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND SEXUAL OFFENCES IN BRISTOL
In April 2015, a disturbing case emerged involving a man from Bristol who was found to be in possession of an alarming collection of indecent images and videos depicting children. The incident came to light after Benjamin Nash, aged 31 and residing in the Bishopsworth area of Bristol, voluntarily handed over a memory card to police officers during an investigation unrelated to his case.
According to reports, Nash was observed by law enforcement officials deleting images from the memory card before surrendering it as part of their inquiry.
This suspicious behavior prompted further examination of the device, which, along with another phone found on his person at the time of arrest, revealed a horrifying cache of over 2,300 indecent images and videos of minors.
The majority of these images were classified as the most severe category, with many depicting children as young as two years old, highlighting the extreme nature of the material involved.
Following a detailed investigation, Nash was brought before Bristol Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to 17 charges related to child exploitation and indecency.
On April 22, 2015, he was sentenced to a prison term of two years and four months.
His admissions included offenses such as causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, distributing indecent images, creating indecent images and videos of children, and possessing extreme pornographic material.
In addition to his prison sentence, Nash was subjected to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which restricts his activities and contact with minors.
He is also required to register as a sex offender for the next decade, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
The charges Nash admitted encompass two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, five counts of distributing indecent images, three counts of making indecent images, three counts of producing indecent videos, and five counts of possession of indecent images.
He also faced a charge for possessing an extreme pornographic image.
Detective Constable Russell Saunders, who led the investigation, expressed grave concern over Nash’s actions.
He stated, “Benjamin Nash had amassed a collection of indecent images and videos of children that were of the most vile and extreme kind.
Our subsequent investigation found he was actively making contact and exchanging those same images with like-minded offenders both in the UK and abroad.” Further details revealed that Nash had contacted two teenage girls, aged 13 and 15, through social media platforms.
He sent explicit images of himself and manipulated one of the girls into sending him explicit photographs, exploiting her vulnerability to achieve this.
Although there is no current evidence of direct contact offenses, authorities remain deeply concerned about Nash’s pronounced sexual interest in young children.
The progression of his offending behavior indicates a significant risk to the community, underscoring the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing threat he poses.
