A university undergraduate from Aberdeen has been convicted for attempting to film a female student up her skirt during a taxi journey after a day trip to Royal Deeside.
Antoni Bald, aged 24, was found to have tried to position his mobile phone between the woman's legs while traveling on the A93, checking that the camera was active before placing it back.
The female victim noticed Bald adjusting his phone and became suspicious, leading to her confronting him as the taxi stopped.
Bald admitted to taking a video of her private parts and accepted he had committed the offence.
During the court proceedings at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Bald pled guilty to operating recording equipment with the intent to record someone's private parts or underwear without their consent.
His lawyer described his actions as a severe mistake and out of character for a polite and courteous young man.
Bald, who now works in a fast food restaurant in Poland and has abandoned his engineering studies, expressed remorse and apologized for the distress caused.
The sheriff fined him £420 and ordered him to be on the sex offenders register for five years.
