ABERDEEN PENSIONER PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ASSAULT OF NIGHTCLUB PROMOTER
A grieving pensioner named Andrew Hunter committed a sexual assault on a woman working as a nightclub promoter on Union Street, Aberdeen, after consuming large amounts of alcohol following the recent death of his long-term partner.Hunter, aged 67, approached the 20-year-old woman late at night on April 2 and groped her buttocks twice.
At around 11-11:30 pm, she felt a hand grope her and turned to see Hunter, who then walked away after making eye contact.
She immediately alerted colleagues and later recorded a video of Hunter.
He returned and asked her, “Did you like that?”, leaving her fearful and worried as he continued to loiter nearby.
Hunter then returned a third time at 12:15 am and groped her again.
The police were contacted, and Hunter was identified and detained.
He pled guilty to sexual assault.
Hunter, from Victoria Road, Aberdeen, expressed remorse, stating he was ashamed, remorseful, and struggling with grief after his partner’s death in July 2021.
He admitted that since her passing, he had turned to alcohol heavily and had no prior convictions.
The court deferred sentencing for reports including a risk assessment and imposed notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act.
Hunter stated he had never previously been in trouble and did not know the victim, expressing regret for his actions amid his personal struggles.
