ABERDEEN RAPIST ALISDAIR RANDALLS SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS FOR PREDATORY CRIME
In a case that has shocked the local community in Aberdeen, Alisdair Randalls, a man described as predatory, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman he met through the popular dating application Tinder.According to court proceedings, the incident took place in December 2015, when Randalls, who had been out drinking that evening, persuaded the woman to leave her home and accompany him to his flat in Aberdeen.
Despite her clear communication that she did not wish to engage in any sexual activity, Randalls persisted in his advances.
The court heard that he ultimately seized her by the throat and committed the act of rape within his residence.
The victim reportedly expressed her discomfort and made it known that she did not consent, but Randalls continued his assault.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Randalls later claimed to have no memory of the incident, a statement that was met with skepticism by the court.
Randalls was found guilty of one count of rape at the High Court in Aberdeen last month.
Today, at the High Court in Glasgow, he was formally sentenced for his crime.
In addition to his prison term, Randalls was issued a lifelong ban from contacting the victim and was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Judge Lord Colbeck addressed the court, emphasizing that Randalls showed little or no remorse or responsibility for his actions.
The judge highlighted the profound impact the crime has had on the victim's life, stating, "You show little or no insight into your offending behaviour and the impact this has had upon your victim." The judge also noted that Randalls had failed to demonstrate any understanding of the gravity of his actions, which contributed to the severity of the sentence handed down today.
