ALEXANDER ALLPORT AND SHOCKING CHILD EXPLOITATION IN HALIFAX

A man with a disturbing history linked to the possession and distribution of vile indecent images of children has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.

Alexander Allport, aged 37, of Canterbury Crescent in Halifax, was found guilty of engaging in such heinous activities and was subsequently sentenced to four years and four months behind bars.

The court heard that Allport was deeply involved in the circulation of hundreds of illicit images, encompassing categories A, B, and C, some of which included graphic footage of infants being subjected to sexual assault.

His actions were described as relentless by the presiding judge, Jonathan Rose, during the hearing.

The images and movies involved children ranging from just one year old up to 14 and included both actual photographs and videos.

According to court proceedings, Allport used online chat rooms to share these disturbing materials with like-minded individuals.

He was actively participating in a chat group with a total of 43 members, where he shared 21 of the most egregious images, including some of the most severe category A material, with 18 other users.

His behavior demonstrated a clear intent to disseminate these images further and connect with others who shared similar abhorrent interests.

The police first arrested Allport in May 2017 when officers executed a search warrant at his residence after receiving information regarding his activities.

During the raid, authorities seized various electronic devices, including a memory stick, several computers, three mobile phones, and a hard drive.

An examination of these devices uncovered a disturbing collection comprising 114 movies and 130 images classified as category A, along with 300 movies and 295 images in category B, and eight movies plus over 1,000 images in category C.

These materials depicted children aged between one and 14 engaged in sexual acts.

Further investigation revealed that Allport had been downloading these illicit materials since 2016.

During questioning, he admitted to starting this activity in that year and indicated that he had initially been released under investigation while police continued their inquiries.

However, later visits by law enforcement officials on February 3 of this year led to the seizure of additional devices—three phones and a hard drive containing more prohibited images, including cartoons and digital animations involving children.

In his interview, Allport claimed that after his first arrest, he sought therapy from an American company aimed at addressing his sexual attraction to children.

Despite his efforts, financial difficulties caused him to stop attending these therapy sessions, which was highlighted as a factor that may have contributed to his reoffending.

He appeared again in court in April, facing more serious charges.

On May 5, police apprehended him with yet another cache of illegal images—39 images in category A, 33 in B, and 60 in C.

Evidence also indicated that he was actively engaging in online chat platforms, communicating with minors and fellow offenders, which further illustrated the extent of his criminal activity.

As a result of these new findings, Allport was remanded in custody and subsequently sentenced via a video link to Leeds Prison.

He pled guilty to multiple offenses, including the creation and distribution of indecent images of children recorded in 2017, as well as additional charges related to possessing further illicit images.

His legal counsel, Charles Blatchford, acknowledged that Allport had been forthcoming with police from the outset and emphasized that the cessation of his group therapy sessions for 18 months was a turning point.

However, due to financial constraints, he could no longer continue with the therapy, which may have mitigated some of his offending behavior.

Judge Rose condemned Allport’s actions, describing him as a persistent and determined individual engaged in a relentless pursuit to obtain and share horrific images involving children.

The court imposed a sentence of over four years, accompanied by a lifelong requirement to register as a sex offender.

Additionally, an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order was issued to restrict his future conduct and prevent further harm to the community.
