HALIFAX MAN DAVID WHITTAKER SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND BESTIALITY VIDEOS IN HALIFAX
In a serious case that has shocked the Halifax community, David Whittaker, a man with a troubling history of sexual offences, has been handed a three-year community order following the discovery of disturbing content on his mobile device.The case was heard at Bradford Crown Court, revealing the extent of Whittaker's involvement in possessing and failing to report indecent images and extreme pornography.
According to court records, police executed a search at a property in Mixenden, Halifax, over a year ago.
During the investigation, Whittaker initially claimed he did not possess a mobile phone.
However, after persistent questioning, he surrendered the device, which was subsequently examined.
The forensic analysis uncovered a distressing video clip depicting a young girl performing a sexual act with a hairbrush.
In addition, the device contained images of extreme pornography, including scenes involving bestiality, which are considered highly illegal and morally reprehensible.
Whittaker, who is currently without a fixed address, admitted to possessing these indecent images.
He also acknowledged that he had failed to notify the authorities of a change in his address, breaching the terms of his previous sexual offences prevention order.
Prosecutor Andrew Dallas highlighted the severity of the case, emphasizing that the content found on Whittaker’s phone was deeply disturbing and indicative of ongoing criminal behavior.
It was also revealed that Whittaker had previously served time in prison.
In March 2011, he was jailed for possessing nearly 250 indecent images of children as young as five.
These images were stored on his phone, computer, and DVDs.
Whittaker claimed that the images were already on his phone when he acquired it and that he had attempted to delete them.
Despite being arrested and released on bail, he failed to adhere to the conditions, including living at a specified address in Blackpool and signing the sex offenders register.
Instead, he chose to live in a tent, which further complicated his compliance with legal requirements.
During the 2011 sentencing, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC described Whittaker’s actions as directly contributing to the abuse and suffering of children.
Whittaker was sentenced to two years in prison and was subject to a sexual offences prevention order for ten years.
The court emphasized the importance of ongoing supervision and notification requirements to prevent further offending.
In the latest proceedings, Judge Colin Burn acknowledged Whittaker’s previous convictions and the seriousness of the new offences.
He stated that the community order was an opportunity for Whittaker to demonstrate rehabilitation and to ensure he does not offend again.
The judge also imposed a new sexual offences prevention order, requiring Whittaker to continue notifying police of his whereabouts and to participate in a sex offender treatment program, underscoring the court’s commitment to safeguarding the community from potential harm.
