AIDEN BARTLETT FROM ABERDEEN AND FIFE SENTENCED FOR LIFE AFTER BRUTALITY AGAINST WOMEN
In a case that has shocked the communities of Aberdeen and Fife, Aiden Bartlett, aged 24, has been handed a severe and indefinite prison sentence following a series of violent and disturbing crimes committed over a span of seven years. The court heard harrowing details of Bartlett’s brutal assaults and threatening behavior directed at multiple female victims, revealing a pattern of psychopathic tendencies and dangerous conduct.
During the sentencing at Perth, Judge Gordon Liddle imposed an Order for Lifelong Restriction on Bartlett, emphasizing the gravity of his offenses.
The judge clarified that Bartlett must serve a minimum of four years in prison before he can be considered for parole, and even then, release would only be granted if the Parole Board is convinced that his release would not pose a threat to public safety.
This decision underscores the dangerous nature of Bartlett’s actions and the potential risk he poses to society.
It was revealed that Bartlett was already serving time in Perth prison when he continued to offend.
Despite his incarceration, he attempted to influence a woman to withdraw her support for prosecution proceedings against him.
Court reports detailed how Bartlett shouted, swore, and issued threats in an effort to pervert the course of justice, demonstrating his ongoing hostility and manipulative tendencies even from behind bars.
Forensic psychologists provided evidence about Bartlett’s mental state, with one describing him as a high risk and another categorizing him as presenting a medium risk.
Advocate depute Richard Goddard QC acknowledged that there was consensus among experts regarding Bartlett’s personality disorder and psychopathic traits, which contributed to the severity of his crimes.
The court detailed Bartlett’s first known attack on a young woman when he was just 15 years old.
Over time, his assaults escalated in brutality, involving repeated physical violence at various residences in Aberdeen.
Victims suffered severe injuries, permanent disfigurement, and life-threatening situations.
Bartlett’s methods included slapping, pushing, pulling, pinning victims down, and striking their heads against walls.
He also spat in their faces, punched, kicked, and even stubbed out cigarettes on their faces in acts of extreme cruelty.
His verbal abuse was equally disturbing, as he shouted and swore at victims, called them degrading names, and locked them inside houses in Aberdeen to prevent their escape or contact with others.
In addition to these assaults, Bartlett targeted a second woman between September 2017 and July 2018, at addresses in Aberdeen and Kirkcaldy.
His attacks on her involved slapping, pushing, dragging, punching, kicking, biting, and spitting, with the added cruelty of placing a hand over her mouth to restrict her breathing.
He also confined her in properties and confiscated her mobile phone to prevent her from seeking help or contacting others.
Further, between January 2013 and August 2014, Bartlett assaulted a third woman, engaging in physical struggles that resulted in injuries.
His pattern of violence and control underscores a deeply troubling history of abuse and psychopathic behavior, prompting the court to impose the strictest possible sentence to protect the public from further harm.
