WAYNE HAMPSON OF LEICESTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In August 2014, a man from Leicester, Wayne Hampson, was sentenced to serve three years and seven months in prison after admitting to sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place in August 2012 at a residence in Leicester, where Hampson and the young girl were alone together.
During this encounter, inappropriate touching occurred while they were seated on a sofa, an act that was brought to light during the court proceedings.
Prosecutor Philip Gibbs detailed that the misconduct was discovered when the victim’s mother found incriminating text messages on her daughter’s mobile phone, revealing the inappropriate relationship and contact between Hampson and the girl.
This discovery prompted an investigation that led to Hampson’s arrest and subsequent court appearance.
Hampson, aged 41 and residing on Arnesby Crescent in Leicester, pleaded guilty to three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, all of which took place on the same day.
During the court hearing, the defense lawyer, Paul Prior, acknowledged Hampson’s inappropriate behavior, stating, “He acted inappropriately and admits he felt some flattery by her attention and he didn’t discourage her, which was quite wrong.” Judge Philip Head addressed the court, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense.
He remarked, “She initiated contact by kissing you and you took advantage of the situation.
It appears she consented, but the whole point of these offences is they’re created to protect young and impressionable girls approaching adulthood.” As part of the sentencing, a sexual offences prevention order was issued, explicitly prohibiting Hampson from making contact with the victim or having unsupervised contact with females under the age of 16.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts to protect minors from exploitation and ensure accountability for such serious breaches of trust and safety in Leicester.
