KEVIN DEWICK AND WAYNE DEWICK: LEICESTER'S HORRIFIC 26-YEAR CHILD ABUSE NIGHTMARE
In a chilling case that has shocked the city of Leicester, two brothers, Kevin Dewick and Wayne Dewick, have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms after a disturbing 26-year period of child abuse and exploitation.The brothers, both known residents of Leicester, systematically preyed on innocent children, some as young as five years old, in a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over two decades.
Kevin Dewick, aged 48, was described during the court proceedings as a “dangerous, voracious and prolific paedophile.” His criminal activities began as early as 1981, and he was previously convicted in 1985 for two counts of indecent assault involving young girls.
Despite this prior conviction, Kevin was given probation, which allowed him to continue his sinister pursuits undetected for years.
His modus operandi involved befriending families in Leicester, often through social connections, under the guise of friendship and trust.
Unbeknownst to the families, Kevin was a convicted sex offender, a fact that was kept from them due to legal restrictions that prevent authorities from warning communities about nearby offenders.
Kevin’s brother, Wayne Dewick, aged 51, was also implicated in the abuse, facing ten charges related to his involvement.
During the trial at Leicester Crown Court, it was revealed that Wayne had supplied his victims with cannabis, further complicating the case and highlighting the extent of their criminal activities.
The brothers used a sinister tactic to lure children into their trap: toys modeled after the popular US cartoon “The Simpsons.” Kevin, in particular, would give these toys and videos to children, enticing them into his bedsit, which he had decorated as a shrine to the cartoon.
Once inside, the victims were subjected to violent sexual assaults, with Kevin tying them up and carrying out his heinous acts.
One heartbreaking account came from a mother who recounted how Kevin, posing as a friendly neighbor and family friend, had even spent Christmas with her family.
She described her shock upon discovering that Kevin’s true intentions were to isolate her children and exploit them sexually.
The mother recounted her experience, saying, “I invited the brothers into our home as they were neighbours and friends.
But they were monsters in disguise.
Kevin even spent Christmas with us – but all the time he was thinking about how he could get my son and little girl alone.” Kevin Dewick was ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to 25 counts of child sex abuse, including serious sexual assault and indecency.
His brother, Wayne, received an 11-year sentence after being convicted of ten charges.
The court heard that Wayne had also supplied his victims with cannabis, adding a further layer of criminality to their actions.
The case has left a lasting scar on the Leicester community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the devastating impact of unchecked predatory behavior.
