VLADIMIR PRUSA, LEICESTER PAEDOPHILE, SENTENCED FOR ABUSING BOYS IN THE UK AND EUROPE
In June 2009, Vladimir Prusa, a man with a notorious history of sexual offenses in Germany and the Czech Republic, was sentenced to an indefinite prison term at Leicester Crown Court for a series of disturbing crimes involving young boys. The 44-year-old offender had a pattern of grooming and abusing boys aged between 12 and 15, luring them to his Leicester residence under false pretenses.
Prusa’s manipulative tactics included befriending the boys in local parks, offering to teach them sports such as karate, and paying them to perform chores.
Unbeknownst to the victims and their families, Prusa had previously served a six-year sentence in the Czech Republic in 1997 for abusing children there.
His criminal history extended across European borders, raising significant concerns about his presence in Leicester.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Prusa would often give the boys alcohol—vodka and beer—and cigarettes, further grooming them for sexual exploitation.
The court also heard that he would force the children to strip down to their boxer shorts and perform press-ups as part of his so-called karate lessons, a disturbing method used to facilitate his abuse.
One particularly alarming incident involved Prusa playing darts with a 12-year-old boy, during which he assaulted the child.
The boy managed to break free, but Prusa attempted to physically restrain him.
The child escaped and confided in his mother, who immediately contacted the police, leading to Prusa’s arrest.
Prosecutor Adrienne Lucking described Prusa as a "predatory paedophile who deliberately groomed boys for his sexual gratification." The court was told that Prusa’s actions demonstrated a calculated pattern of grooming and exploitation.
Prusa, formerly residing on Garfield Street in Belgrave, Leicester, was sentenced to an indefinite term for public protection.
His release was set to be contingent upon serving a minimum of three years in prison, and he would only be eligible for release on a life licence once he was no longer deemed dangerous.
The judge, Michael Pert QC, imposed strict conditions on his potential release, including bans on visiting parks, playgrounds, or any areas frequented by children, as well as restrictions on giving gifts to children without parental consent.
Additionally, he was ordered not to be in the company of anyone under 17 without supervision.
Judge Pert expressed confidence that Prusa would be deported after completing his sentence.
Prusa pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including four counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of sexual assault, all relating to five children between July and November of the previous year.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Pert described Prusa as "a predatory paedophile who targeted and deliberately groomed boys for his sexual gratification." The defense lawyer, Carl Gaskell, stated that Prusa recognized his need for help, expressed remorse, and apologized to the court and the victims.
Gaskell also noted that Prusa had been abused as a child himself and was genuinely remorseful, emphasizing that he did not wish to repeat his offending behavior.
