NORWICH MAN RECEIVES COMMUNITY ORDER FOR POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A man identified as Thomas Hannant, aged 29, was discovered to possess 180 indecent images of children on his computer, following a police search at his address in Springbank, Lakenham, Norwich Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor Chris Youell stated that among these images, 100 were 'moving images' and that the material had been downloaded between April and August of the previous year.
Hannant, who now resides at Mancroft Walk, Norwich, admitted to possession of indecent images of children as well as possession of extreme pornographic material.
His lawyer, Rob New, explained that Hannant had initially started viewing adult pornography and was subsequently drawn into accessing child images, describing it as a 'downward spiral.' Hannant received a three-year community order, during which he is required to participate in a sex offender treatment program and was also placed on the sex offender register for five years.
Judge Stephen Holt emphasized that Hannant needs to focus on working with the rehabilitation program to aid his recovery.
