NORWICH MAN, 20, CHARGED OVER CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION
Bilal Shinwari, aged 20, faces charges of two counts of raping a girl under the age of 16, conspiracy to commit rape against a girl under 16, and conspiracy to rape a woman over 16.
He was detained in Ireland and was extradited back to the UK on July 3.
Shinwari appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on July 4 and is due to attend a plea hearing at Norwich Crown Court on July 31.
The alleged crimes took place between August 2023 and May 2025 and involved two victims in their early to mid-teens.
Additionally, seven other Afghan men, all of whom are refugees, have been charged with 40 similar offences related to group-based child exploitation in Norwich.
They entered a plea of not guilty on June 19 and are currently in custody, with their trial scheduled for January 11, 2027.
