SECOND INQUEST INTO TRAGIC DEATH OF NORWICH BOY, FOUR, BEGINS
A four-year-old boy who lost his life after becoming trapped with his head between two stair gates was residing in “extremely filthy” and “deplorable conditions” prior to his death, a court has been informed.Draco Chapman passed away in 2019 after sustaining “irreversible and devastating brain injuries” resulting from the incident at his residence in Lakenham, Norwich, in April of that year.
He was discovered by an older sibling with his head caught between two stair gates at the bottom of the stairs while his mother was away attending a parent’s evening.
The court was told that Draco, along with his four siblings and mother, Rachel Chapman, were living in “extremely dirty and unsanitary” conditions at their home in the lead-up to his death.
The inquest is ongoing.
