SIMON MCDONALD FROM COVENTRY JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD BOY AT WARWICKSHIRE RIDING STABLES
In a case that has shocked the local community, Simon McDonald, a riding instructor based in Coventry, has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to engaging in a series of sexual acts with a 13-year-old boy.The offences took place in and around the Warwickshire area, specifically at the riding stables where McDonald worked and at his private residence.
Simon McDonald, aged 21 and residing on Ashwood Avenue in the Radford district of Coventry, appeared before Warwick Crown Court to face charges related to his inappropriate conduct.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with the underage boy, as well as two additional charges alleging that he caused or incited the young boy to participate in sexual acts.
The charges came to light earlier this year, prompting an investigation that uncovered disturbing details about the nature of the offences.
Prosecutor Vicki Lofrese outlined the circumstances, stating that the allegations involved the young boy being coerced into submission, with claims that he was bullied into participating in the sexual acts.
However, McDonald entered his guilty pleas on the basis that, despite the boy being underage, the boy was a willing participant in the activities.
This nuanced plea was considered during the sentencing, with the judge noting that there was no evidence to suggest McDonald had used violence or threats to coerce the boy.
During the court proceedings, the victim provided a heartbreaking account of how he first met McDonald at the Warwickshire riding stables.
He explained that initial interactions involved simple lessons, but over time, the relationship took a darker turn.
The boy recounted, “It started with him kissing me and touching me, but then it got worse.
I was quite confused, scared and ashamed as well.” The incidents reportedly occurred both at McDonald’s home and at the stables where he kept his horses, adding a layer of distress to the case.
Judge James Pyke, presiding over the case, sentenced McDonald to three years in prison and ordered him to register as a sex offender for life.
The judge emphasized the gravity of the offences, stating, “The boy in question was only 13.
There was an appreciable age gap between his age and yours, and the offences were repeated on a systematic basis.” Furthermore, a sexual offences prevention order was issued, prohibiting McDonald from having any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 for a period of five years.
The court’s decision reflects the serious concern for safeguarding young individuals from potential harm and underscores the importance of protecting minors from predatory behavior.
