COVENTRY PAEDOPHILE GRAHAM STEPHENS SENTENCED FOR GROOMING TEENAGER WHILE ON BAIL
In August 2011, Graham Stephens, a 59-year-old from Coventry, was sentenced to prison for crimes involving a 14-year-old girl.
The court heard that Stephens had attempted to groom the girl through Facebook, even paying for phone credits to maintain contact.
The girl agreed to meet him in February, and after he picked her up from school, he drove to a country lane and began kissing her.
She managed to fight him off, and he subsequently dropped her home, where she confided in her family about the incident.
During police questioning, Stephens admitted that he had intended to take the girl to a hotel for sex.
Previously, in December of the same year, Stephens had targeted his first victim, also 14, by initiating contact via Facebook.
After communication, he paid for her phone credits and arranged to meet.
When she agreed, he picked her up from school, where he started kissing her.
Stephens was released on bail following this incident.
However, he breached his bail conditions, leading authorities to discover 57 messages on his computer directed at another 14-year-old girl, in which he pleaded with her to meet him.
Ultimately, Stephens was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison for these crimes, including the sexual grooming and abduction of one of the children.
