IAN ROBERTS FROM COVENTRY SENTENCED FOR BREAKING CHILD WORKING BAN
In April 2010, Ian Roberts, a convicted sex offender from Coventry, was sentenced to three years of supervised community service after violating a court order that prohibited him from working alone with anyone under the age of 18.
He appeared before Coventry Crown Court to admit that he had been in contact with teenagers while employed at a riding school.
Roberts, 44 years old and residing on Church Lane, Stoke, had previously been convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a child in 2007, which led to the court-ordered restriction.
Judge Peter Ross commented on Roberts’ case, stating, "He acknowledges there have been failings on his part and that is why he is in court.
While he also acknowledges that he poses a risk to young children, particularly teenage boys, there is a low risk of re-offending." The judge then mandated Roberts to complete three years of supervised community service as part of his sentence.
