SIMEON TURNER FROM BULWELL SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENCES IN NOTTINGHAM

Turner, aged 19 and residing on Abercarn Close in Bulwell, was found guilty of the crime of rape after a trial.
The sentencing was carried out on May 2 by Recorder Kainth, who sentenced him to five years in prison.
The court heard that the victim, who was only 14 at the time of the incident, had come to realize that her attacker’s behavior was entirely inappropriate and that she had been exploited from an early age.
The judge acknowledged her bravery in giving her victim impact statement, noting that she had effectively lost two years of her childhood due to Turner's actions.
The court also considered other charges Turner admitted to, including engaging in sexual activity with a female under 16, creating indecent images, and engaging in sexual communications.
These charges resulted in concurrent sentences.
In addition to his prison term, Turner is required to register as a sex offender indefinitely and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.
The investigation into his conduct was initiated after authorities discovered a video in which Turner was performing a sexual act on himself, which was classified as a sexual communication offence.
Prior to sentencing, the victim, who remains unidentified for legal reasons, came forward and disclosed that there had been some irregular sexual contact over a period of time.
The court clarified that the only contested charge was the single count of rape, and that there was no evidence of abuse of trust.
It was also noted that at the time, Turner’s boundaries were very blurred, indicating a period of confusion and vulnerability during the incidents.
Overall, the case highlights the serious consequences of sexual offences and the courage of victims who come forward to seek justice, even in the face of trauma and fear.
