SCOTT CHAPMAN FROM SOUTHAMPTON JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Southampton, an 18-year-old man named Scott Chapman has been sentenced to a significant prison term after engaging in sexual activities with a young girl who was only 12 years old. The incident came to light after the girl, who was reported missing at the time, was found to have met Chapman through a social networking site. The two arranged to meet, and they spent the night together at Chapman’s uncle’s residence in Southampton, where the illegal act took place.

According to court proceedings, Prosecutor Andy Houston detailed that after their night together, Chapman took the girl by taxi to her foster mother’s home. The girl, who was underage, confided in police that she needed the morning-after pill, indicating her awareness of the situation and her attempt to prevent pregnancy. It was revealed that the girl had initially posted on the social network claiming she was 17, but when she met Chapman, she falsely told him she was 15. In reality, she was only 12 years old at the time of the encounter.

Chapman, who resides on Manor Farm Road in the Bitterne Park area of Southampton, admitted to two counts of raping a girl under the age of 13 and one count of assault by penetration. His criminal record includes five previous convictions, which likely influenced the severity of the sentence handed down by the court.

Judge Derwin Hope, presiding over the case at Southampton Crown Court, sentenced Chapman to 15 months in prison. Additionally, he ordered Chapman to be placed on the sex offenders register for a period of ten years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to the community. The case has raised concerns about online safety and the protection of vulnerable minors in Southampton and beyond.
