DAVID COOPER CAUGHT IN SOUTHAMPTON EMBRACE SCANDAL WITH YOUNG GIRL
In April 2011, disturbing footage captured by security cameras revealed David Cooper, a 47-year-old man from Southampton, engaging in inappropriate physical contact with a young girl.The footage showed Cooper embracing, kissing, and stroking the girl, who was only 14 years old at the time, on the ground floor of a residential flat.
During the court proceedings, a judge reviewed the security footage and remarked to Cooper, “You are lucky it didn’t go any further,” highlighting the severity of the misconduct.
The incident began when Cooper met the girl and her two friends while they were out shopping in Southampton.
The girl, who was in foster care, asked Cooper for a cigarette, which led to an invitation to return to his flat.
Despite her age, the girl claimed she was 16 and expressed willingness to engage with Cooper.
Once at his residence, Cooper offered alcohol to the group, further complicating the situation.
The court was shown footage of Cooper’s inappropriate behavior, which included him embracing and kissing the girl, as well as stroking her on the ground floor of the flats.
Prosecutor James Newton-Price outlined the case, emphasizing that Cooper had admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the girl.
As a result, Cooper was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for that period.
Additionally, he was placed under an 18-month supervision order and required to register as a sex offender for five years.
Furthermore, Cooper was prohibited from contacting girls via text or electronic means and was barred from allowing any females into his flat.
The court’s decision aimed to prevent any future incidents and to uphold the safety and well-being of minors in Southampton.
