Robin King

Swindon Sexual Abuser

June 2016 Pervert who sexually abused vulnerable three-year-old girl jailed A man who sexually abused a vulnerable three-year-old girl has been jailed for five-and-a-half years. Robin King will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, and also abide by a sexual harm prevention order restricting his liberty. The 37-year-old had pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 when he appeared before Swindon Crown Court. But following a two day trial last month, a jury of seven men and five women took an hour and a half to convict him of both matters. King, of Priory Road, Park South, Swindon was babysitting for the little girl when he carried out the vile abuse in March last year. And a judge was told that before police could arrest him he had cut his finger nails and washed his clothes in what could have been a bid to destroy evidence. Jailing him Judge Tim Mousley QC said “Robin Alan King, on May 25 the jury convicted you unanimously of these two offences of sexual abuse. She was three-and-a-half years old. “I have very much in the forefront of my mind the affect of what you did on the victim and also on her family. “Quite what the affect of your abuse will be on he remains to be seen and as of today it will be a matter of speculation. But there is also the affect on her parents. “And one particular feature of the impact upon them is that they will have to be prepared to deal in the future with the affect if what you did as it affects the victim, and that is a very heavy burden for parents to have to bear. “The nature of what you did put you in a certain sentencing category: it is a custodial sentence of course. “Of course she was particularly vulnerable by virtue of her age.” After a reading a presentence report he said he decided ‘after a degree of hesitation’ that he did not find he presented a significant risk of serious harm in the future. Following a two day trial, a jury of seven men and five women took an hour and a half to convict the 36-year-old. Earlier Rob Ross, defending, said his client was still coming to terms with the verdicts of the jury. “This is a man who has had a finding against him, someone who will come to terms with it, someone who will do his level best to ensure these in no offending again in the future,” he said. Despite his not accepting the verdicts he said he was already planning to go on courses in custody which probation think he needs to do to address his offending. “We all known when that happens the process of rehabilitation is so much better. In cases like this the most important thing is the long term protection of the public,” he said. May 2016 Man convicted of sexually abusing girl, 3, faces lengthy jail term A MAN who sexually abused a three-year-old girl has been warned he is facing a lengthy jail term. Robin King pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 when he appeared before Swindon Crown Court. But following a two day trial earlier this week, a jury of seven men and five women took an hour and a half to convict the 36-year-old. Now a judge has remanded King, of Priory Road, Park South, in custody so the probation service can compile a pre-sentence report. And he said that it was only necessary to address the length of the sentence and whether the defendant presented a future risk of harm to children. King, who denied any wrongdoing, sexually abused the little girl on two occasions in March last year. Mary Cowie, prosecuting, said that the Crown would be seeking a sexual offences prevention order, which restricts his liberty on release, at sentence. Alex Daymond, defending, said his client was aware he was facing a lengthy jail term and could not object if he bail was revoked so he could start serving the sentence. Judge Tim Mousley QC put the case off for the report to be prepared and remanded him in custody. He said: “Robin Alan King: you have been convicted on the clearest evidence of these offences on a particularly vulnerable and very young girl. “You will come back on a date to be fixed in about three weeks time. You will have a pre-sentence report on the length of the sentence. “And more importantly whether you are dangerous in the meaning of the Criminal Justice Act 2013: that means whether there is significant risk of serious harm in the future.” He also told him he must register as a sex offender with the total time he would have to continue doing so depending on the final sentence. Should the judge find he presents a significant risk of serious harm then he could impose imprisonment for public protection, effectively a life sentence, or add an extended licence to his jail term. That would mean he would be under the control of the probation service for a longer period when he is freed. He would also have to serve two thirds of the custodial sentence rather than getting released at, or even before, the halfway point as with inmates serving normal sentences.
