October 2010 Community order for paedophile caught on Weymouth seafront A PAEDOPHILE who was caught on Weymouth seafront has been given a three-year community order. Arthur John Cuff, 67, admitted committing an act outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner in August when he appeared before Weymouth magistrates. Cuff, of Sussex Square, Swindon, was sentenced to a three-year community order during which he is to be supervised by the probation service. He was also ordered to complete a sex offenders’ programme and pay prosecution costs of £85. Prosecutor Andrew Newman told the court Cuff was seen sitting in a deckchair on the seafront looking at children aged between two and four who were wearing T-shirts but were naked from the waist down. Witnesses reported Cuff’s behaviour to beach control staff who called the police who arrived to witness his behaviour. The court heard Cuff was arrested, interviewed and admitted his offending to the police and pleaded guilty at his first court appearance. Mr Newman also told the court Cuff has a previous conviction for sexually touching a child in Swindon in 2009. Following that offence he was given a 13-month jail term, but was released the day the sentence was passed after having served half the term in custody while on remand.
