September 2007 Dad had stash of child porn on computer A married dad downloaded thousands of sickening images of child abuse on to his home computer. Police officers found a “library of paedophilic material” when they examined Robert Wilson’s PC. Newcastle Crown Court heard how he had 2,309 images and six movies of child pornography. Wilson also had another 178,000 images of legal hard core adult material. Prosecutor Caroline Goodwin told the court how the material included 123 images and two movies of category five – the most severe grading. Miss Goodwin said: “These, in the main, depicted very young children.” Father-of-two Wilson, of Sulgrave Road, Washington, admitted one charge of possessing and 13 charges of making indecent photographs of children. Defence barrister Julian Smith told the court how Wilson, 38, had never been in any trouble before. Mr Smith said: “Up until this happened he has led a blameless and very worthy life indeed. He has been a credit to his family.” Mr Smith told the court how probation experts had assessed Wilson as posing a low risk of re-offending and unlikely to pursue his sexual interest into actual contact with children. Judge Tony Lancaster sentenced Wilson to 18 months in jail. The judge said: “The images were of real children who had been abused and exploited for either commercial gain or for adult sexual lust. “Child sex abuse and porn is abhorrent to our society and such abhorrence is reflected by the imposition of custodial sentences.”
