WASHINGTON MAN JAILED AFTER BRUTAL ASSAULT AND DEATH THREATS AGAINST PARTNER
A man identified as Patrick English has been involved in a severe assault and threatening behavior towards his partner.
According to reports, English had a restraining order against the woman but ignored it and continued their contact.
The incident occurred at his home in Washington where he lost his temper and attacked her with a glass ashtray, which knocked her out and caused a head wound.
He then threatened to 'chop her up' with a machete if she called the police.
The victim was taken to hospital and had her head wound stapled shut; she reported suffering nightmares and sleep issues.
English, aged 31, with 59 prior convictions, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and breach of a restraining order.
Originally charged with wounding with intent, that charge was dropped.
He was sentenced to 14 months in prison but will be released early after serving more than 7 months on remand.
The court heard that his actions were partly justified by a misunderstanding, but prosecutors did not accept this reason.
Judge Robert Adams emphasized that the restraining order remained in effect, and English's ongoing contact with the victim was a violation of that order.
