ROBERT MOSELEY'S SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE IN LEICESTER: VICTIM'S PAIN AND JUSTICE SERVED
A disturbing case of sexual abuse has come to light involving Robert Moseley, a former boxing coach from Leicester, who subjected an underage girl to repeated assaults over an extended period. The victim, a young teenager at the time, endured a series of sexual violations that occurred multiple times each week, with the abuse continuing for approximately 18 months.
According to court proceedings, Moseley's actions were so frequent that they amounted to hundreds of separate incidents.
The girl, who was still in her early teens, found the courage to report the abuse to the authorities after enduring this torment for a significant period.
However, Moseley initially denied the allegations, forcing the girl to give evidence during a trial at Leicester Crown Court, which was a traumatic experience for her.
The trial concluded earlier this month with Moseley, aged 55 and residing at Bowhill Grove, Thurnby Lodge, Leicester, being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault.
These charges were linked to a vast number of incidents, highlighting the extent and severity of his misconduct.
On the day of sentencing, Judge Timothy Spencer addressed Moseley directly, describing the nature of the abuse.
He stated that the assaults had taken place roughly five times a week over an 18-month period, emphasizing the relentless and calculated nature of Moseley's actions.
The judge condemned Moseley's behavior, describing it as an attack on a vulnerable young girl going through puberty, and expressed deep concern over the impact it had on her.
Judge Spencer remarked that Moseley appeared to have derived sexual gratification from his actions and noted the absence of remorse.
He also highlighted Moseley's arrogance and mentioned that the offender had previously attempted to take his own life, a detail brought up by Moseley's legal representative, Helen Johnson.
She explained that Moseley had tried to commit suicide as a consequence of the allegations, which he continues to deny.
Ms.
Johnson also pointed out that Moseley had been arrested on April 16, 2017, and had been living under the shadow of these accusations ever since.
She described how the ordeal had profoundly affected his life, mentioning that he had suffered from mental health issues and had made a suicide attempt.
During the sentencing, Judge Spencer condemned Moseley's actions for prolonging the victim's suffering.
He stated that while Moseley claimed the allegations had haunted him for two years, the girl had been living with the trauma for the same duration.
The judge criticized Moseley's decision to fight the case in front of a jury, which forced the victim to relive her ordeal repeatedly.
Ultimately, Moseley was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
Additionally, he was handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order to restrict his contact with minors and prevent further harm.
Following the sentencing, the victim, speaking to LeicestershireLive, shared her emotional response.
She revealed that the denial by Moseley had intensified her pain and made her feel invalidated.
She recounted her feelings of helplessness during the abuse, explaining that she was too young to tell anyone and believed no one would believe her.
Her mental health was already fragile at the time, and she had no friends or social support, which made her situation even more distressing.
She described her thoughts during the abuse, saying that her only hope was to wait until Moseley died and to expose him at his funeral.
Her decision to come forward to the police was driven by her fear that Moseley might harm other children.
She expressed her concern about the potential for further victims and her desire to prevent him from having access to more minors, which motivated her to take action and seek justice.
