PETER KIS SWINDON SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS IN JAIL FOR REPEATED ABUSE
In a recent development at Swindon Crown Court, Peter Kis, an 88-year-old known for a long history of sexual offenses, was handed a custodial sentence of two years. The court also imposed an extended license period of three years, reflecting the seriousness of his latest misconduct and the potential risk he poses to the public.
On June 2, Kis was found outside his residence in Barnum Court, Rodbourne, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of an eight-year-old girl.
At the time, he was out of prison on license, which means he was under supervision following previous convictions.
The incident involved Kis masturbating after observing two young girls, aged eight and six, pass by on their bicycles.
Witnesses reported seeing him perform the act in close proximity to his home, raising alarm among local residents and prompting police intervention.
Following his arrest, Kis appeared before Swindon Crown Court via video link from HMP Bullingdon.
He pleaded guilty to a single count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, a charge that underscores the gravity of his actions.
The court proceedings revealed that Kis was caught in the act after the girls' passage prompted his inappropriate behavior.
The judge, Jason Taylor QC, ordered a report from the probation service to assess whether Kis remains a danger to the public and whether an extended sentence is justified.
During the hearing, Kis, who was observed wearing reading glasses and occasionally stood up to better follow the proceedings, was warned by the judge that a jail sentence was inevitable.
Judge Taylor explicitly stated, “Mr Kis, you should be under no illusion that custody is coming your way, alright?
But I am sure you understand that.” Kis, a Polish national, has a criminal record that spans over five decades, marked by numerous convictions related to sexual offenses against women and girls.
His first known conviction dates back to 1967, when he was sentenced to eight years in prison for indecent assaults on two young girls.
In 1971, he received a suspended sentence after being convicted of gross indecency with a child.
His pattern of offending continued over the years, with community orders issued in 1994 for gross indecency and indecent assault, and again in 1999 for indecent exposure.
His criminal history includes a series of disturbing incidents, such as in 2010 when he approached two young girls on a bus in Swindon and inappropriately touched them.
He then arranged to meet them the following day to buy them clothes, leading to his arrest at that meeting.
Further offenses include groping a female supermarket staff member in 2014 and pawing a woman in a chemist in 2015.
In 2018, at the age of 86, Kis was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after being found guilty of assaulting a seven-year-old girl during a church service in July 2017.
During that incident, he grabbed the girl’s hands and rubbed them against his body.
Despite denying the allegations, the jury took less than an hour to convict him.
During his 2018 trial, Kis claimed that he did not touch the girl and suggested that someone else might have been responsible.
However, the court was not convinced by his defense, especially considering his extensive history of sexual offenses.
Judge Robert Pawson, who sentenced him, remarked, “You are quite unable it seems to leave women and female children alone.” In summary, Peter Kis’s criminal record is extensive and troubling, reflecting a persistent pattern of sexual misconduct over more than fifty years.
His latest conviction and sentence at Swindon Crown Court serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals with such histories, and the judicial system’s efforts to protect vulnerable members of society from further harm.
