July 2011 Haverhill pervert branded ‘danger to children’ An internet pervert who had more than 31,000 images on his computer ‘remains a danger to children around the world’, a judge has said. Paul Wynn, from Haverhill, who has been jailed for two years, told police that he was only interested in young girls aged between four and ten years old, a court heard. Judge David Goodin, sentencing Wynn at Ipswich Crown Court, said: “You remain a danger to children around the world who are taken from wherever they are taken, subjected to this indignity and photographed for the perverted pleasure of people like you.” He said young children had suffered ‘hideous indignities’ to provide the material Wynn had downloaded on to his computer. The 32-year-old of Howe Road was previously jailed for 15 months in 2003 after admitting 16 charges of making indecent images. He appeared before the crown court for sentencing on Wednesday (July 6) having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to a single count of making indecent images. Police who raided his home in February found a laptop hidden underneath his pillow. Michael Edwards, prosecuting, said the laptop contained 31,617 indecent images of children and 285 movies of similar material. Richard Kelly, in mitigation, said Wynn had tried and failed to avoid viewing illegal material. He said Wynn needed help for his compulsion. “Even before his arrest he had identified the fact that he needed help but he feared prosecution if he revealed to anyone what he was up to,” Mr Kelly said. Wynn had virtually no social life, no friends and was ‘effectively a hermit’, a probation report said. As well as being jailed, Wynn was ordered to sign the sexual offences register for 10 years. He was also banned indefinitely from owning or using a computer capable of internet connection without notifying the police or probation service. He is also banned from being with any child under 16 without a parent or guardian being present.
