Paul Davis

Burnley Sexual Abuser

November 1999 Sex attacker’s beating-up and four months’ jail A FATHER-of-two has been jailed for four months after he sexually assaulted a schoolgirl. Burnley Crown Court heard how drunken Paul Davis asked the 13-year-old girl to perform a sex act on him and kissed her before she escaped sobbing and went for help. Davis, 29, was sent to prison for four months by Judge Raymond Bennett, who said the victim must have been very frightened and that drink could not excuse his behaviour. Davis was beaten up after the offence, and the judge told him: “The fact that you have been assaulted shows how people feel about this kind of offence. People detest those who behave as you did.” Davis, of Dall Street, Burnley, admitted indecent assault. Nick Simmonds, prosecuting, said Davis exposed himself to the girl and asked her to perform a sex act. She refused and he pushed her on to a bed and kissed her. The girl told police she told Davis she did not know what to do when the defendant suggested the sex act. Mr Simmonds said Davis had previous convictions, but none for sex offences. Paul Hague, defending, said Davis had been extremely drunk, had no recollection of what he had done and had been revolted by it. He had been reluctant to accept he could behave in such a disgusting and vulgar way. He was ashamed and very distressed by what had happened when asked to talk about it. Davis was hard working, but had been addicted to alcohol since the age of about 14. His family had not been able to wean him away from it.
