NICKY BYWATER'S HORRIFIC SEX ATTACKS IN WORDSLEY AND STOURBRIDGE LEAD TO 14-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE
In April 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Nicky Bywater, a man from Wordsley, who was convicted of carrying out a series of heinous sexual assaults on three young schoolgirls. The court heard that Bywater, aged 39 at the time, had systematically groomed these vulnerable victims, leading to a pattern of increasingly serious offending that left lasting psychological scars. The assaults took place in and around the Wordsley area, with the victims being notably young and impressionable. The court was told that Bywater’s actions not only devastated the girls emotionally but also inflicted profound trauma that would likely affect them for years to come. The gravity of his crimes was emphasized during the sentencing hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court, where Judge John Wait delivered a stern judgment.
Judge Wait stated that Bywater would only be released from prison when authorities determine he is no longer a threat to the public. The judge also made it clear that it was entirely possible that Bywater could serve the full 14-year sentence without early parole, underscoring the severity of his offenses. The judge described the offending as part of a disturbing pattern, highlighting that each incident contributed to a growing cycle of criminal behavior.
The court was informed that the victims only came forward after one of them bravely reported the abuse to police, which ultimately led to Bywater’s arrest. The investigation revealed that Bywater had engaged in manipulative conduct, including giving alcohol to the girls and exposing them to pornographic films, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Bywater initially denied the allegations but later fully admitted to the charges, pleading guilty to seven counts involving rape and sexual assault. As part of his punishment, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Additionally, he was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
Further investigations into Bywater’s digital devices uncovered indecent photographs across all categories, including the most severe, although he was not charged specifically for this material. Throughout the sentencing, Bywater showed no visible reaction as the judge handed down the sentence, reflecting a lack of remorse for his actions.
