WORDSLEY SEX OFFENDER ALAN MALE SENTENCED FOR 30-YEAR-OLD ABUSE CASES

In a case that has spanned over three decades, Alan Male, a 64-year-old resident of Wordsley, has been sentenced to four years in prison for a series of sexual assaults committed against young girls. The crimes, which date back to the 1980s and early 1990s, have left a lasting impact on the victims, whose lives have been profoundly affected by Male’s actions.

Alan Male’s disturbing history of abuse involved two young girls, with the assaults occurring over a prolonged period. The court heard that the abuse inflicted upon these victims, who were between the ages of five and eleven at the time, had a significant and enduring toll on their well-being. Wolverhampton Crown Court was the venue for the trial, where Judge Michael Dudley presided over the case.

Male, who resided on Kenilworth Close in Wordsley, faced 15 charges of indecent assault. These charges stemmed from incidents that took place between 1980 and 1991. Despite denying the allegations initially, Male was found guilty after a jury deliberated on the evidence presented during a four-day trial. The evidence was described as harrowing, and the jury’s decision reflected the gravity of the crimes.

During sentencing, Judge Dudley emphasized the importance of acknowledging the long-lasting effects of Male’s actions. He stated, “People like you have to realize that it is always likely at some stage these things come to light and that they will be punished. The effects can last a lifetime for the victims and cause all sorts of problems. You are responsible for how their lives have been affected.”

Prosecutor Jennifer Josephs detailed the pattern of Male’s conduct, explaining that he had engaged in a course of abuse with one of the victims before moving on to the second. The court was told that the victims’ ages ranged from five to eleven at the time of the assaults, highlighting the severity and inappropriateness of Male’s actions.

Tom Walkling, representing Male, expressed some remorse, noting that the defendant had made certain admissions, albeit after the victims had been forced to relive their trauma. Walkling described Male as a “most unhappy man,” who was struggling with personal issues, including falling into debt, excessive drinking, and the recent departure of his wife. He added, “Nothing is going for him at all,” suggesting that Male’s personal circumstances may have contributed to his behavior, though not excusing it.

Ultimately, the court’s decision reflected the seriousness of the crimes and the lasting harm caused to the victims, leading to Male’s four-year imprisonment. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of sexual abuse and the importance of justice for those affected.
