NEAL HATTON SENTENCED IN WARRINGTON FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

Neal Hatton, a man from Warrington, has been sentenced to over twenty-one years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offenses involving a minor. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years, beginning when the victim was still in primary school. Hatton, aged 38 and residing in Vulcan Close, Padgate, was convicted on two counts of rape and nine counts of sexual assault, following a detailed trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Throughout the trial, the court heard harrowing testimony from the victim, who described the terrifying ordeal inflicted by Hatton. The abuse started when the child was very young and escalated over time, with Hatton repeatedly raping and sexually assaulting the victim. The victim recounted feelings of intense fear and helplessness, explaining how they would try to resist or ignore Hatton’s advances in the hope that the abuse would stop. However, Hatton’s predatory behavior persisted despite these efforts.

The victim’s courage in finally confiding in their mother about the abuse led to the matter being reported immediately to Cheshire Police. Following the report, law enforcement officers swiftly arrested Hatton. During police questioning, Hatton denied all allegations, attempting to dismiss the accusations. Nevertheless, the evidence presented at trial proved overwhelming, and the jury found him guilty of all charges.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones delivered the sentence, condemning Hatton to a term of 21 years in prison, with an additional six years on extended licence. The court also ordered Hatton to register as a sex offender for life and comply with a sexual harm prevention order, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Ryan Crawford expressed his commendation for the victim’s bravery, emphasizing the importance of their courage in coming forward. DS Crawford described Hatton as a sexual predator solely driven by his own gratification, showing no regard for the victim’s well-being. He highlighted Hatton’s refusal to admit guilt despite the substantial evidence against him, forcing the victim to relive their trauma in court. Crawford also noted that the conviction and sentence serve as a form of justice, providing the victim with some closure and protection from further harm.

In his statement, DS Crawford urged other victims of sexual offenses to come forward, reassuring them that their reports will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. The case underscores the importance of speaking out against abuse and the justice that can be achieved through diligent law enforcement and judicial processes.
