MOSES OLOGBENLA AND HAFEEZ OYE DADA: BRADFORD AND DADA SEX OFFENDERS REPEATEDLY OFFEND IN UK

In a disturbing series of events spanning several years, Nigerian nationals Moses Ologbenla and Hafeez Cole Oye Dada have been linked to multiple serious criminal offenses involving sexual abuse and violations of immigration laws in the United Kingdom, specifically in the cities of Bradford and Dada.

Back in August 2014, both men faced justice for their involvement in heinous crimes committed in Newcastle’s west end. Oye Dada, then aged 24 but believed to be 44, was convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl after exploiting her vulnerability by providing alcohol and cannabis. He waited until she was incapacitated before assaulting her at a friend’s residence, leaving her in a state of distress and partially clothed in a pool of vomit on a bare mattress. Simultaneously, Ologbenla, aged 31 at the time, was found guilty of sexually assaulting another 14-year-old girl in a separate room of the same property, having also intoxicated her with alcohol and drugs.

The police investigation, known as Operation Sanctuary, uncovered that both men had overstayed their visas, making their presence in the UK illegal. Despite their convictions and the court’s orders, they remained in the country, raising concerns about immigration enforcement and the safety of vulnerable individuals.

Further complications arose when authorities discovered that Ologbenla had breached a court order related to his online activity. He was required to notify police of any new online identities within three days as part of his registration on the sex offenders’ register. However, during a search of his devices in Middlesbrough in December, authorities found nearly 40 usernames that he had failed to disclose. These usernames were linked to websites where fraudulent credit card details could be purchased, although there was no evidence to suggest they had been used in criminal activity.

Ologbenla’s defense argued that the usernames were created solely for viewing films, watching football, and answering surveys. Nonetheless, he was sentenced to four months in prison at Teesside Crown Court in May, with the court noting the severity of his non-compliance. The Home Office refused to clarify why he had not been deported earlier, despite his illegal status and previous convictions.

The criminal history of these individuals was further highlighted in March 2019, when Ologbenla committed another offense in Middlesbrough. He was found to have created almost 40 undisclosed online usernames linked to sites selling fraudulent credit card details. He pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements, and the court scheduled his case for sentencing at Teesside Crown Court. The authorities confirmed that both Ologbenla and Oye Dada, who had been convicted of rape and sexual activity with a minor, would be deported after serving their respective prison terms.

Throughout these proceedings, victims’ statements revealed the profound and lasting impact of the crimes. One victim described feeling worthless and having difficulty trusting men, having taken overdoses in the aftermath of her assault. The other victim recounted her attempts at self-harm and expressed how her experience with Ologbenla and Oye Dada had led her to run away and spend time in foster care. Both girls had been lured back to the offenders’ flats in Newcastle after being invited by the men, who had planned and executed the attacks in separate rooms within the same property.

Judge Penny Moreland, presiding over the case, condemned the offenders’ actions, emphasizing their exploitation of underage girls and their blatant disregard for the victims’ well-being. Oye Dada was sentenced to 10 years for rape, while Ologbenla received a six-year sentence for sexual activity with a child. Both men were ordered to register as sex offenders for life and were subjected to sexual offences prevention orders, restricting their contact with minors.

Authorities, including Assistant Chief Constable Winton Keenen, expressed their commitment to continuing investigations and ensuring that such offenders are held accountable. Keenen praised the bravery of the victims and reaffirmed the police’s dedication to protecting vulnerable women and girls from predatory individuals like Ologbenla and Oye Dada. The case underscores ongoing concerns about illegal immigration, online misconduct, and the exploitation of minors, highlighting the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community awareness in preventing such tragedies in Bradford, Dada, and beyond.
