A man who showed “absolutely no remorse” after raping a woman has been jailed for 11 years at Bradford Crown Court.Mr Recorder Patrick Palmer described Stephen John Bradwell’s behaviour as “reprehensible”. The court heard the woman was “intoxicated” and incapable of consent or resistance when he raped her.Bradwell, 50, formerly of Hydale Court, Low Moor, was found guilty in February following a seven-day trial.Prosecutor Michael Morley read a statement on behalf of the victim in which she said felt constantly sick and afraid, suffered flashbacks and panic attacks, and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The court heard that Bradwell had a lengthy list of previous convictions including for battery, assault, criminal damage, harassment, and assault of emergency workers, which was described as “a picture of violent offending”.Recorder Palmer said: “You have to understand that these are very serious offences. I am concerned that you have little or no insight at all.”He jailed Bradwell for a total of 11 years, of which two-thirds will be served in custody. He was placed on the sex offender’s register for life.Bradwell, who sat with arms folded during the hearing, said “Thank you, Your Honour” as he left the dock.
