MICHAEL BREWER-TAYLOR AND HIS HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DERBYSHIRE

A pensioner from Derbyshire, identified as Michael Brewer-Taylor, has been prominently featured in court after repeatedly being found in possession of extremely disturbing images depicting child abuse.

The 72-year-old man’s ongoing disturbing conduct was brought to light during his recent sentencing hearing at Derby Crown Court, where authorities detailed the extent of his illicit activities.

According to court records and prosecution statements, Brewer-Taylor’s latest offense involved the discovery of more than 100 horrifying images and video files stored on his personal computer.

Law enforcement officials revealed that the computer was equipped with cleaning software that the accused had used to delete his browsing history, an action that suggested an attempt to conceal his internet activity.

This suspicious behavior, coupled with the large volume of illicit material uncovered, pointed to a long-term pattern of offending.

The court was informed that Brewer-Taylor had been engaging in similar illegal activities for approximately twenty years.

His repeated offending highlights a disturbing obsession with material that exploits underage children and showcases the extent of his sexual gratification from such content.

The sentencing hearing was told that officers arrived unannounced at his residence in Heanor on June 23, 2020, to investigate allegations.

During the visit, one officer engaged Brewer-Taylor in conversation, while another examined his computer for digital evidence.

The police officer who checked his device observed that the computer’s desktop displayed references to terms like ‘boy’ and ‘teen,’ which, upon clicking, led directly to a collection of indecent images.

The files included 36 Category A images—considered the most serious and disturbing—94 Category B images, and 67 Category C images, with each category representing escalating levels of severity.

Further scrutiny uncovered Google searches that explicitly indicated he had been seeking child sexual abuse imagery.

In addition to the illicit images, the computer also contained software designed to erase browsing history.

Such software was prohibited for Brewer-Taylor under a previously issued sexual harm prevention order, emphasizing the authorities’ concern over his ongoing risk and pattern of concealment.

When questioned during police interviews, Brewer-Taylor denied possessing any illegal material.

He claimed that the images he had viewed were legal and that the individuals depicted were over the age of 18.

However, this assertion was contradicted by the evidence gathered, which clearly demonstrated his ongoing involvement with illegal content.

It was also revealed that in 2013, Brewer-Taylor had been arrested and convicted previously for possessing indecent images of children.

During that past encounter with the law, he attributed his actions to an uncontrollable obsession, famously stating, “I just can't stop it—like an alcoholic.” This repeated behavior underscored a dangerous pattern of offending and failure to reform.

In light of these serious findings, Brewer-Taylor pleaded guilty to charges of possessing indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

His defense lawyer, Roger Wilson, explained that Brewer-Taylor’s husband was currently incarcerated, though the reasons for his imprisonment were not disclosed.

The defense also highlighted that Brewer-Taylor had maintained a stable career, paid off his mortgage, and lived a relatively isolated lifestyle, describing him as a ‘hermit’ who appreciated his own company.

Wilson expressed significant concern about the prospect of a custodial sentence as being particularly harsh, especially given his client’s age.

He suggested that a suspended sentence might serve as a more appropriate punishment, though the court ultimately decided otherwise.

The judge, Recorder Adrian Reynolds, sentenced Brewer-Taylor to 32 months in prison.

In addition to imprisonment, the court imposed a lifetime sexual harm prevention order, requiring him to remain on the sex offender register indefinitely.

The judge’s stark remarks emphasized the severity of the offenses, condemning the defendant’s deceitful behavior and the exploitation of vulnerable children.

The ruling was clear: Brewer-Taylor’s disturbing conduct would be met with strict legal consequences to protect the community from any further harm.
