PROLIFIC PAEDOPHILE HAS PRISON TIME EXTENDED
Christopher Proctor, now known as Daniel Travis, was responsible for sexually assaulting a young girl when she was only two years old.The girl reported the abuse to authorities in 2021.
At that time, Proctor was already serving a 12-year prison sentence handed down in 2019 for the rape of a different young girl.
The 49-year-old was later detained and faced charges of sexual assault by touching, which he initially denied.
As the case progressed to trial, the victim was called to give evidence.
It was only after cross-examination by Proctor’s defense team that he changed his plea to admit the offense.
During the court proceedings, the girl read a heartfelt victim impact statement describing the profound effect of the abuse on her life: “What happened to me has had a huge impact on my life and is quite difficult to put into words… The impact on my mental health has been significant.
I am constantly anxious and on edge, particularly around men and unfamiliar places.
I struggle to trust people, even those close to me and I often feel isolated because of this.
I experience frequent flashbacks and panic attacks from the trauma of what Christopher did to me… I used to self-harm to get rid of the feeling of his hands on my skin.
I have lost my confidence and self-worth.
Some days I have even thought it might be better if I am not here.
But I will get through this… I would like the court to understand the seriousness of the harm that has been caused to me.
Not only at the time of the offense, when I was little, but the lasting impact it has had on my wellbeing and future.
“… I want Christopher to remember one thing – he may have taken away my innocence, but he will never take away my future… I am no longer a victim.
I’m a survivor…” Proctor, who has no fixed address, received a sentence on January 7 of three years and nine months in prison.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register for life, given a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and a 10-year restraining order.
Detective Constable Ellen Buggins, involved in the investigation, stated: “The survivor in this case demonstrated remarkable resilience and patience despite the lengthy process to bring this to court.
She showed exceptional courage by reading her victim statement aloud, and the judge praised her bravery.
Travis (also known as Proctor) is a dangerous individual whose crimes were extremely serious.
It is essential to protect the public from him, and he will remain under close supervision for life.”
