MEN ALL NOTTINGHAM PARENTS SHOULD BE AWARE OF, INCLUDING SOME TRICKED BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS
Alexander Hall believed he was about to meet a 14-year-old girl named Millie at the Shepherd's Stonehouse pub in Stragglethorpe near Radcliffe-on-Trent in June 2024.
The 48-year-old resident of New Street, South Normanton, Derbyshire, had arranged to meet her and discussed plans to get engaged, kiss, make out in his car, and squeeze her bottom after initiating contact on an online platform called Wink.
Before their planned meeting, Hall asked the girl to wear lip gloss and instructed her not to tell her mother about their conversations, claiming she wouldn't understand.
However, when Hall arrived at the pub, he discovered that Millie was actually a self-identified paedophile hunter.
A hearing at Nottingham Crown Court revealed that Hall had requested photographs of the girl in her underwear, despite knowing her age from the outset.
Judge Tim Green KC sentenced him to two and a half years in prison, stating that Hall intended to meet her and take her back to his home for sexual activity he had planned.
Hall also sent the girl a picture of his private parts prior to meeting.
He pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to communicate sexually with a minor and attempting to meet a child under 16 after grooming her.
Defence lawyer David Watts described Hall as being "in a relatively lonely situation" at the time of the offences.
In addition to his prison sentence, the court ordered Hall to register as a sex offender for life and imposed a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
