Update 18/02/2026: A south London predator who sexually abused three children over a "prolonged period" has died in prison.Meekumar Issory, from Mitcham, was jailed for eight years and nine months for child sex offences in 2018.
The prison watchdog has now revealed that Issory died in custody at HMP Rochester on January 25 this year at the age of 82.

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Mitcham, a 74-year-old man named Meekumar Issory has been sentenced to nearly nine years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against three young girls.
The crimes, which took place within the familiar surroundings of Mitcham, involved a gross abuse of trust and a calculated exploitation of his position to prey on vulnerable children.
Issory appeared before Kingston Crown Court on April 5, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to his misconduct.
The court heard that he had engaged in a range of criminal acts, including digital penetration, sexual assault through physical contact, encouraging a child to watch pornography, exposure, and the possession of indecent images.
These offenses were committed against three female victims, all under the age of 13, who were known to him, adding a deeply personal and disturbing element to the case.
The Metropolitan Police, in a statement, emphasised that Issory had abused his trusted position to carry out these acts.
His actions not only inflicted emotional and psychological harm on the young victims but also betrayed the community’s sense of safety and security.
The police confirmed that Issory was arrested on November 12 of the previous year, marking the beginning of the legal process that culminated in his sentencing.
Following his conviction, the court sentenced Issory to eight years and nine months behind bars.
Additionally, he has been placed on the sex offenders register, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
He was also issued a sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in effect indefinitely, further restricting his ability to reoffend or contact minors.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and safeguarding within communities like Mitcham, where trust must be carefully maintained to protect the most vulnerable.
