MATTHEW MORRIS FROM BOLTON AND DOVERIDGE SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Bolton and Doveridge, a man named Matthew Morris has been sentenced to serve time on the sex offenders' register following the discovery of indecent images involving young girls on his personal computer. The incident came to light during a police investigation that targeted the possession of child exploitation material.

According to court records, authorities seized a laptop from Morris’s residence, which was located at his home in Bolton. The device was found in a bedside cabinet, and upon examination, police uncovered a disturbing collection of images. Prosecutor Thomas Fitzpatrick revealed that, in October 2010, investigators identified 12 images depicting young girls aged between seven and ten years old. These images showed the children clothed but posed in a manner that was clearly erotic, raising serious concerns about the nature of the material.

When questioned by law enforcement officers, Morris, who was 34 years old at the time, claimed ignorance regarding the images. He initially attempted to shift blame onto others, suggesting that the computer was being repaired by third parties and that they might have been responsible for the content. However, this defense did not hold up under scrutiny.

During the court proceedings, Morris pleaded guilty to 12 counts of making indecent images of children. Despite his admission, he expressed remorse to probation officials, stating that he was disgusted by his own actions and insisted that he did not have a sexual interest in children. His defense was that his behavior was out of character and that he was not a danger to the community.

The judge sentenced Morris to a three-year community order, which includes supervision and mandatory participation in a sex offender treatment program. Additionally, he was placed under a sexual offences prevention order for a period of five years, restricting his access to certain online content and activities. This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat the distribution and possession of child exploitation material, and it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation.
