DERBYSHIRE SEX OFFENDER MARK REAP SENTENCED TO 24 YEARS IN PRISON
A judge has sentenced Mark Reap, a sex offender from Derbyshire, to 24 years in prison after he was found guilty of abusing young girls.Reap, described as manipulative, bought gifts in an attempt to persuade his victims to stay silent.
His crimes came to light after one of the girls confided in her teacher.
Reap, 45 and formerly residing on Bath Street in Ilkeston, targeted his victims on multiple occasions between 2012 and 2018.
He was arrested in January 2019, initially denying the allegations and claiming both girls had fabricated stories.
However, at the start of his trial at Nottingham Crown Court on August 2, Reap pleaded guilty to seven counts, including five of rape and two of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
On Friday, October 8, Reap appeared again in court and received a sentence of 24 years in prison.
Additionally, he has been placed on the Sex Offender Register for life and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order designed to restrict his actions upon release.
Detective Inspector Craig Hall of Nottinghamshire Police stated, “Reap is a manipulative sex offender who repeatedly raped and sexually abused two young girls – causing them considerable physical and emotional pain.
By refusing to accept responsibility and accusing his victims of lying, he caused unnecessary distress and has rightly received a lengthy custodial sentence.” He added, “Detectives in Nottinghamshire Police’s public protection teams work tirelessly to investigate cases of rape and sexual abuse.
Thanks to their dedicated efforts and attention to detail, offenders like Reap are brought to justice, and victims are supported.” He emphasized, “Had it not been for their thorough investigation, Reap might very well have evaded justice.” Finally, Detective Hall urged victims to come forward: “If you have experienced sexual assault, we want to hear from you.
It doesn’t matter if it occurred many years ago—what matters is that it happened.
We will listen carefully, investigate thoroughly, and do everything possible to seek justice for you.”
