A man named Luke Jones, from Alveston in Derbyshire, has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of controlling and coercive behaviour towards a woman.

The police noted that Jones repeatedly lied during interviews, attempting to manipulate the investigation.

The case was brought to court following the victim's courageous decision to come forward and report the abuse.

Authorities gathered enough evidence to charge him, resulting in his conviction.

Additionally, Jones was issued a ten-year restraining order to prevent further contact or harm to the victim.

The judge's ruling reflected the seriousness of the abuse and the importance of protecting the victim's welfare.

Detective Sergeant Ramsay commented, “As is typical of abusers, Jones thought he could control the situation – even when he found himself across the table from detectives.” The sentencing took place at Warwick Crown Court on April 28, where Jones was handed a two-year prison term alongside the restraining order.

Police emphasized that Jones's dishonesty did not prevent his conviction and praised the victim's bravery in coming forward.

They also urged others experiencing abuse to seek help, reaffirming their commitment to listen and provide support.
