LEWIE HORGAN SENTENCED IN SWINDON FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Swindon, 22-year-old Lewie Horgan from Tedder Close, Pinehurst, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl during an incident that took place in August 2022. The assault occurred at a private residence, where Horgan's actions left a lasting impact on the young victim.According to reports, the girl managed to escape from Horgan's grasp by running to the bathroom, seeking refuge from the distressing situation. While there, she used her phone to send a message to a friend, alerting them to the assault and seeking help. The message prompted immediate action, and police were swiftly called to the scene to investigate the incident.
Horgan, who was present at the scene, denied the charge of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15. Despite his denial, the court found him guilty after a thorough trial. The victim’s mother shared the devastating aftermath of the assault, revealing that her daughter has since been diagnosed with depression and anorexia. The trauma has also led her to engage in self-harming behaviors, highlighting the severe emotional toll inflicted by the incident.
At Swindon Crown Court, Horgan faced sentencing. Although he was not sent to prison, the court imposed a 36-month community order. As part of his sentence, he is required to complete 250 hours of unpaid work, participate in a sex offender rehabilitation program, and undertake 20 days of additional rehabilitation activities. The court also ordered Horgan to pay the victim £5,000 in compensation for the harm caused.
Furthermore, Horgan, who has a prior conviction for possession of a knife in a public place, was subjected to a five-year restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the victim during that period. He is also mandated to register as a sex offender for five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities. The case underscores the serious consequences of such offenses and the ongoing efforts of the justice system to protect vulnerable individuals in Swindon.
