VINCENT O’HALLORAN FROM LIDEN SWINDON JAILED FOR MOLESTATION OF 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a disturbing incident that took place in Swindon, a man named Vincent O’Halloran, who was known to have no fixed address but was associated with the Liden area, has been sentenced to six months in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. Despite the relatively short duration of his sentence, O’Halloran is expected to be released early, as he has already served more than half of his time while in custody on remand.

The incident occurred on August 15 in the Liden neighborhood, specifically near Sheringham Court. According to reports, the young girl was simply walking past the area when O’Halloran, who was inside a flat, called out to her from a window, offering her a milkshake. The girl, intrigued or perhaps lured by the offer, approached the flat and entered after he beckoned her inside.

Once inside, O’Halloran inquired about her age, commenting that she appeared more developed than her age. The girl later recounted that he then began to pull at her clothing, which marked the beginning of the assault. Prosecutor Philip Warren told Swindon Crown Court that O’Halloran had invited her to come in for a milkshake, which she accepted. After drinking the milkshake, she gave him a false name and was asked to sit on the bed next to him. It was during this interaction that he asked her to remove her trousers.

The girl explained that she wanted to leave and was trying to make her way out of the flat, but O’Halloran blocked her path. He then threatened her, saying he would hurt her if she tried to leave another room. She described how he yanked her trousers down and how she was trying to escape, feeling her escape was being deliberately obstructed. Despite her protests and attempts to leave, O’Halloran continued to intimidate her, telling her to stay or he would harm her.

As she finally managed to leave, O’Halloran told her, “Promise not to tell anybody,” and attempted to kiss her, which she found to be inappropriate and wrong. The girl returned home and confided in friends and family, who promptly contacted the police. Law enforcement officers quickly responded and arrested O’Halloran at the flat.

During police questioning, O’Halloran admitted to inviting the girl into the flat, claiming he had seen her loitering outside the block of flats but could not explain his reasons for doing so. He denied threatening her with harm. It was also revealed that O’Halloran, who has a history of convictions mainly related to dishonesty, had no prior sex offenses on his record.

At Swindon Crown Court, Judge Douglas Field sentenced O’Halloran to six months in prison for the sexual assault. The judge expressed his belief that O’Halloran’s actions were sexually motivated, noting that he had successfully persuaded the young girl to enter the flat under the pretense of offering her a milkshake. As part of his sentence, O’Halloran is required to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, reflecting the seriousness of his crime and the potential risk to the community.
